Thematic catalogues
– First World War periodicals
The collection of First World War periodicals, containing more than 3,000 titles, originates from the material collected by the Committee for the History of the Italian Risorgimento to document the ‘Great War’.
The data on Italian periodicals, already described in the printed catalogue Italian Periodicals 1914-1919, edited by Maria Lucia Cavallo and Ettore Tanzarella, Rome, 1989, have been updated in consistency, supplemented with new acquisitions and enriched in description, while for the data on foreign periodicals see the link Images from the Great War edited by Paola Gioia, in the Digital Collections section.
The trench newspapers are included in the general catalogue, while the Austrian propaganda newspapers are separate, as they cannot be considered proper periodicals, but only propaganda leaflets.
The information is completed, for Italian periodicals, by the index of places of publication and the index of author organisations, and for foreign periodicals by the country index, the index of places of publication and the index by language.
